GTG´s brooch

December 16, 2008

One of the early jobs I got after I finished University was working for the city of Reykjavík (the only city in Iceland) doing internal audits in the firms the city owned at the time, partially or as a whole. My boss in that work place, Guðrún Torfhildur, did never behave according to an old saying in Iceland “Konur eru konum verstar” (it means women are bad to other women). She was always very supportive, gave me asignments that needed thinking and she trusted me with them. She is a very energetic woman and has been called “The Red Lion” because of her beautiful red hair and her fiery persona.

I had a problem with an asignment in my current job and since she was the boss of that workplace for years before I came on board, she came over from her new workplace and helped me with the project… for free!

I wanted to make something for her since she so gracefully helped me. Since she is a member of Oddfellow she wanted something with the three circles that represent Oddfellow.

So we decided on a brooch with her initials and the three circles and this is what I made for her.

I will always be extremely grateful to her for being such a great person, honest, energetic and passionate in the things she does. She is a modern day hero after having some serious health problems and not only just surviving them but being able to get over them and still be strong, full of passion and fire. I greatly admire her and wish her the best, always.

I hope she likes her brooch:)

Silver sheet with hand sawed sign

December 10, 2008

I finished this necklace last night. I have to be in the mood to make my jewelery and for the last months I just haven´t found the energy to make a lot of new things. But then I was invited to take part in a stitching group. I don´t stitch (at least yet) but I went anyway and started using my little hand saw to get this cute little sign on the silver sheet.

This necklace came out really nice and I think I might make some more with different signs (crosses and hearts for example).

Lava Pearl on a snake chain

December 10, 2008

I have a lot of lava and I wanted to try to make a simple necklace with a silver pipe I bought last year. This is the outcome of that idea and I must say I like this look. Inside the silver pipe is a wire that goes straight through the pipe and the Lava Pearl and the end of it can be seen at the bottom of the Pearl. This design looks very nice on this snake chain.

Freshwater Pearl in a circle

December 10, 2008

This is one of the necklaces I made from the circles I made for Franki´s necklace. This one has a Freshwater Pearl, white and small but really cute.

Pic´s of me

December 3, 2008

By accident I must have pushed some buttons on this computer because suddenly I turned on a web camera. I didn´t know there was one! I played with it for a little while and found out I could take pictures of me with it. I had some fun doing that so I decided to post 2 of them here, just for the sheer fun of it:)

Cool, huh?
