Lava Pearl with silver wire ball

August 24, 2008

This necklace has a 16 mm Lava Pearl and silver wire curled up and welded in a ball on a leather string. I like this very much and already I have other things in my head I like to make with the wire like that. Each is of course handmade and is therefor unique.

This look good, doesn´t it?

Lava Pearl with Rock Crystal

August 24, 2008

In this design I used a leather string instead of my usual rubber cord. I just bought the leather and had to try it with the Lava Pearl and the Rock Crystal that is cut like a disco ball. To complete the necklace I put a little circle that looks like an open flower on the bottom of the Rock Crystal. It doesn´t really show but it´s there:)

Lava Pearl and Freshwater Pearl necklace

August 20, 2008

This necklace is very similar to one I made this spring/beginning of summer. This is Lava Pearl in a disk kind of shape and a rather thick Freshwater Pearl from the Canary Islands on a snake chain. The Lava Pearl has a thin skin of wax that makes is shine. I´m going through a Lava phase now because I really like that stone at the moment.

Business Cards

August 20, 2008

Kristín, my co worker, told me about a website that has all kinds of business related products and I totally lost it:) I ordered, among other things, business cards and I think they look so cool. I wasn´t sure if  I could have the special Icelandic letters so I chose words that didn´t need the  Icelandic Alphabet.  I found out after I ordered that it is possible to have the Icelandic letters on the products. So next time I decide to have some marketing fun I will have different text on the business cards. These will do for now:

August 16, 2008

I made this name necklace for Sunna and Sigrún friend Berglind. Sunna and Sigrún got their own name necklaces from their mother Júlíana. They liked their necklaces so much they wanted to give their friend a name necklace. This is the necklace for Berglind.

Circle with Red Zirkon Heart

August 16, 2008

This necklace has a heart shaped Red Zirkon I bought this summer in London. I only stopped for a little while in London and took my older son with me to my favorite stone store in Hatton Garden. There we met Jurie, the lovely gemologist, that worked in this stone store in London. He told me he was moving from London and got another job in another country so I guess I won´t see him again. I will miss him because he was always very nice every time he assisted me.

I think this necklace is very cute and I love the cut of the heart, how it reflects light and the deep red color of it. This is an imitation red ruby and a beautiful one.

No show

August 12, 2008

I applied for a place in a sale show in October/November that is handled by Handverk og hönnun but I got turned down. There were so many applying and only few small places for new artists. Better luck next time, I hope!

Name necklace-Sunna

August 7, 2008

Júlíana, my lovely and sweet co worker, asked me if I could make name necklaces for her two daughters, Sunna and Sigrún. It happened before I went on my vacation and I didn´t have time to do it before I went to France but she told me she could wait. So after I came home I made the necklaces and asked her if she could tell me how her daughters felt about them.

She told me they loved their necklaces and really liked that they are handmade and therefor unique. I´m always grateful when I know people like what I do because I always put a little bit of myself in every piece.

This is the name necklace I made for Sunna. I hope she always will enjoy it.

Name necklace-Sigrún

August 7, 2008

This is the name necklace I made for Sigrún,  Júlíana´s, daughter.

When I made this one I was tired because I made Sunna first and I ended up destroying the name and had to make another one. It taught me patience and made me realize that one name necklace can be sawed per evening, otherwise my hands will hurt. And there is no fun in pain!:)

I hope Sigrún likes her necklace and enjoys wearing it because I´m very proud of every name I make since it is a lot of work and I think they all look great.

Silver earrings with Peridot

August 7, 2008

These earrings I just finished last weekend. I had a silver sheet that my silver smithing friend, Steinunn, put for me in her rolling mill with a handmade paper and the sheet got the texture from the paper. I decided to make something out of this material and this is what I made (among other things). To add color to the earrings I put Peridot pebbles at the end of them.
