Hibernating

April 9, 2010

I admit that I have not been doing much in the jewelery making for the last few months. I did have (and I´m still having) some problem accessing my work space since my garage has been cluttered with stuff for a few months now.

And somehow I just have been in a little mood to do much. The ideas are inside of my head but I just let them swim there without doing anything about them much. I did however get myself some things to make jewelery with and I hope my hibernation won´t be much longer. Making nice things, for me or others, always makes me feel good and I enjoy jewelery so it comes naturally making it. Perhaps I just need to feel a little greed towards new stuff for myself to jump start the designer in me ;)

Kristín – name necklace

April 9, 2010

Many years ago I was working for the city of Reykjavík and in another department worked a lovely woman, Guðrún. Before last Xmas she asked me if I could make her a name necklace for her daughter. She wanted to give her the name necklace as a Xmas present. I, of course, was ready to do so and this is how the name looks. I love the first letter,K, in it. It looks really nice and it has similar shape as my handwriting when I write K :) I hope that Kristín enjoys her present.

Karitas – name necklace

April 9, 2010

This necklace was made for Karitas, my lovely Linda´s daughter. This name was rather easy made even if I broke a few blades making it.

I usually use the Icelandic letters when I make names with them but to my shame I thought Karítas was Karitas so I never put the comma on top of the i. I still think the name looks gorgeous!!!

Sumarrós – name necklace

April 9, 2010

My very lovely ex coworker and friend Linda wanted to give her girls name necklaces for Xmas and of course I was willing to do their names.

So this is for Sumarrós. Her necklace was a bit tough because I was trying out new saw blades. I usually use saw blades for gold but they break so easily and I bought new ones for silver. It was a lot harder to saw the letters out of the silver sheet and the blades broke just as easily as the ones designed for gold. So after finishing half of the necklace I switched back to my usual ones and it went a lot better after that :)

This is one of the longest names I´ve done and I did worry a little before I made it that it would be to long but when I finished it I felt it looked amazing. I´m so happy with how it turned out!

I hope the new year will bring you joy and happiness and will be a lot better than the ones before it ;)

Small dangling lava pearl earrings

November 27, 2009

I sometimes like to play with different sizes and different styles when I have the same stones. I had made lava pearl earrings that dangle a few days ago but I just got some new stuff and then I wanted to make shorter dangling lava earrings.

These are the ones I made this week. They remind me of a lava necklace I made a few months back and I think they look nice.

Swarovski hearts – colorless and blue

November 27, 2009

I think that the Swarowksi heart necklaces I made are very cute and I might even put a gold wire on one of them to use on a gold chain myself. The only tough part is picking the color I might want to use, since there are so many nice ones!

These are not the usual stones I use in my jewelery since Swarovski makes crystals (mixing glass with lead). So these are more fragile than the other stones I usually use but those crystals sparkle a lot and that is eye-capturing, and sometimes I just like to watch glittery things ;)

Swarovski hearts – pink, red and purple

November 27, 2009

Since I made a few Swarovski heart necklaces I took pictures of them but wanted to have a few together on each photo to show the difference the color makes. I put the same kind of colors together so these are 3 necklaces, not one with 3 hearts :)

Swarovski hearts – metal green, yellow and light green

November 27, 2009

I was ordering an assortment of Swarovski hearts last time I ordered something for my jewelery making and I got a lot of colors.

Since I´ve been rather energetic lately I decided to make a few Swarovski necklaces and see how they look.

These are a few of them:

An amethyst lady

November 27, 2009

I once bought a strand of amethyst pearls. I took one of those stones and put a small lava pearl next to it and felt it looked like a lady. So this is an amethyst lady with a lava head :)
